What customers say?

“ The service is a bit slow Environment is a bit crowded The food quality and price are good! This restaurant is recommended for a valuable lunch! Drink is included in the set! The rice is not bad too. But today the staff did a crazy action, he used a wet umbrella to move the fan, then the water splash and made me wet! ”

“ Nice environment and great food. Except that the shop owner switches the background music too often. ”

“ Very authentic HK childhood “lo-lo” flavor but with a much bigger portion. ”

“ Mom had the Golden Tripe and Shredded Chicken (with non-spicy sweet potato noodles). The sweet potato noodles were perfectly chewy, and the side dishes included fried peanuts, fried soybeans, shredded cucumber, and cilantro. Mom praised them highly, saying they were just right. I had the Soft-Shell Crab and Crab Sticks (with cold noodles). The batter was thin enough, and the instant frying gave it a spicy, crispy texture. The noodles weren't too watery (I'm afraid of watery ones), and the sauce was just right, not too salty. Adding my favorite cilantro made it a perfect combination. Then we had the Mango Sago dessert. The sago was perfectly firm and had a nice texture, but since I tend to like sweet things, I found it a bit too sweet! The iced peach tea was a refreshing drink. Overall, the food was pretty good. There weren't many seats, so Mom said she'd definitely order more. ”

“ ### **Tan Lao: Enjoy a bowl of Lao, then a bite of the warmth of stewed rice** Recently, I came to **Tan Lao** in Tuen Mun. This restaurant, located on the ground floor of Jinming Building, No. 15 Tseng Choi Street, is famous for its unique stewed rice and wontons, which made me look forward to this meal. #### **Cha Re Lao** I first ordered **Cha Re Lao**, which includes Japanese barbecued pork and pork neck. The barbecued pork is tender and has a slightly sweet sauce, which complements the meat of the pork neck, making me unable to stop eating one bite after another. The fat of the pork neck is just right, which makes the flavor of the whole dish richer. It is really a surprising opening! #### **Wonton Chicken with Stewed Rice** Next, I tasted **Wonton Chicken with Stewed Rice**. The wontons in this dish were very delicious, with the shrimp and meat filling mixed just right, and the skin was thin and smooth, making people salivate. Paired with three yellow chicken, the meat was fresh and tender, and it was a perfect match with the stewed rice! The preparation of the stewed rice is even more worth mentioning. It uses scallops, dried shrimps, mushrooms, Jinhua ham, minced pork and broth, and is slowly stewed over low heat. It is delicious and fragrant. Every bite of rice absorbs the rich soup, which makes me feel the rich seafood flavor and meat aroma, which is really intoxicating! #### **Salty Shaomai** Then, I tried their **Salty Shaomai**. The filling of this snack is fresh and juicy, paired with a special sauce, the taste is distinct, and I am still not satisfied. This classic snack has a unique flavor under the interpretation of Tan Lao. #### **Five-color Ice Jelly** Finally, I ordered **Five-color Ice Jelly** as a dessert. This ice jelly is refreshing and delicious, and paired with a variety of fresh ingredients, it is a perfect end to this hearty meal. The smooth texture of the ice jelly makes people feel the coolness of summer. It is really a good choice to cool down! #### **Summary** In general, every dish of **Tan Lao** shows the chef's care and skills. Whether it is barbecued pork, wontons or stewed rice, every bite is full of surprises. If you are near Tuen Mun, this restaurant is definitely worth a try, come and enjoy this delicious feast! #Tan Lao #Tuen Mun Food #Barbecued Pork #Wonton #Stewed Rice #Salty Shaomai #Five-color Ice Jelly #Food Diary #Food Review #foodie #instafood #hkfood #Hong Kong Food Exploration ”

The stir-fried garlic assorted noodles contain many Japanese snack ingredients, including sesame octopus, stir-fried snail meat, spicy scallop skirt, and Chinese jellyfish. “ Tan Lao (Tuen Mun) Shop 4, G/F, Kam Ming Building, 15 Tseng Choi Street, Tuen Mun Although I don't live in Tuen Mun, I find it a popular spot for its affordable New Territories cuisine and many favorite restaurants. This time, I tried this little place: Da Sheng Tan Lao $69 Yi Gan Tai has a rich menu, with hand-shredded chicken, pork neck, beef oxtail, antler mushrooms, and wood ear mushrooms. Each dish is cooked to perfection, and the seasoning is just right; I ordered a slightly spicy flavor with a hint of numbing. It's delicious, and even more refreshing in the summer. Optional: Cold Noodles + Shredded Chicken Tan Lao $42 The hand-shredded chicken was quite tender, but the cold noodles weren't quite as smooth, but they were thick enough, and the sauce was quite flavorful. Each portion of tan lao comes with fried peanuts, shredded cucumber, fried soybeans, cilantro, and sesame seeds, adding a rich texture and depth to the cold noodles. Lemon Aiyu (Aiyu) +$14 The aiyu, served in a star-shaped bowl, is quite charming. It has the perfect balance of sweet and sour, and is quite refreshing. A must-try on a hot day. Housemade Longan Water +$12 The longan water is generously packed with longans, and the meat is tender. It's also not sweet, making it quite healthy. The overall seasoning is good, but the restaurant's ambiance is rather ordinary, so be prepared. ”

“ I'm not a big fan of lo mein (a type of noodle dish), and I've never really been into lo mein since I was little. But my husband loves it, so we tried it together on Saturday night! And I changed my mind – it was actually quite delicious! The shop is small, with limited dine-in seating, but there are tons of takeout orders. We saw/heard many orders even while we were in the restaurant! The menu is simple, but it offers different combinations to let you customize your flavor, including noodle types, hot or cold lo mein, and toppings. ⭐Beef Tripe Lo Mein (Sweet Potato Noodles/Hot/Slightly Spicy) There's relatively little beef tripe, but a lot of deer antler mushrooms, and plenty of noodles! It's very filling! Make sure to order the soybeans; They're delicious, fried! The flavor is irresistible! ⭐Chicken Hot Pot ($48) (Cold/Hot/B-Spicy) Shredded chicken with chicken cartilage. Lots of chicken cartilage! It's surprisingly delicious even though it's not fried! ⭐Fried Squid Rolls ($28) Feels like they're air-fried, nothing special. ⭐Longan Juice ($12) Not sweet at all, very thirst-quenching, Lots of longan pulp! Considering the price and taste, I'd definitely order it again! ”
